Asterisk convention in Madrid, Astricon - June 15-17

by Staff Writer | posted on 11 March 2005

With the appearance of a cheap, reliable phone exchange as part of every LocustWorld wireless mesh, VoIP is moving into mobile fast. We all know about Skype, but Asterisk is a standards-based rival which is expanding through open source.

The second   Asterisk conference  is now in Europe, and will be held in Madrid's Hotel Auditorium from June 15-17.

The conference keynote will be given by the guy who invented Asterisk: Mark Spencer, of Digium. Subjects to be covered in other sessions include:

  • Integrating the PBX with the IT infrastructure: Asterisk for the Enterprise
  • VOIP migration in-a-box: Asterisk for Service providers
  • Lower cost, more flexibility: Asterisk for Call Centres
  • Your VoIP Swiss Army Knife: Asterisk for developers
  • Managing your Asterisk PBX: from the CLI to the GUI

The Astricon Conference conference "is dedicated to all things Asterisk," say the organisers. The event, composed of tutorials, a trade show, a user conference, and a developer summit, "promises to be an exciting and rewarding event for the Asterisk community."

It does encourage you to "Register today" - but the conference site was still pretty sketchy at press time, and you should probably mail the organisers at info@astricon.net for details.

For beginners, there's a choice of "boot camp" training, in tutorial sessions  around the world.
